A custom grip is more than an ergonomically adapted pistol grip. It is the result of experience, hands-on craftsmanship and digital precision, matched to your hand, your shooting technique and real use in training and competition.
At CB3D every grip is fitted in direct collaboration with the shooter, checked step by step and finally prepared digitally so that it stays reproducible.

Why only in person – and not via a hand scan?
A grip adaptation that makes sense for the sport depends on parameters that can only be assessed during actual shooting.
Stance and posture, shooting technique and movement sequence, wrist and arm angles, force distribution and pressure perception while shooting. In our experience, neither a hand contour nor a static 3D scan captures this sufficiently.
Added to this is subjective perception: what one shooter feels as too much pressure is still too little for the next. Precisely this feedback is an important part of the fitting – and it only works in direct exchange. That is why custom grip fitting at CB3D always takes place in person in the workshop. Either at the Zellhausen or Groß-Umstadt location.
The process
1 · First appointment in the workshop
Approx. 3 hours. You stay on site during the appointment. Fitting is done step by step with constant checking through your feedback. This feeds directly into the next step. At the end we create a digital model before step 2 begins.
2 · Test phase
2–4 weeks in training and possibly already in competition. Only in real use do pressure points and details show up that are not noticeable in the workshop. You document your impressions and give us corresponding feedback.
3 · Fine-tuning
Your feedback feeds into an adjusted model. We work on the digital model so that you do not have to travel again. If necessary, in a further workshop appointment. This keeps your time on site with us to a minimum without us having to compromise on quality.
4 · Finalisation
We produce the grip in its final form according to your specifications for colour and stippling.
If you have adapted the grip yourself again, we digitise it once more and create the final version.
Grip blank: bring your own or from us
- Your own grip blank or production grip: Serves as the basis for the fitting. Needed if we do not offer our own blank for your pistol. On request we first make a raw scan of the initial shape as a digital backup in case you want to go back later. You decide whether you keep shooting with the adapted grip or commission us to make a grip copy of it.
- CB3D grip blank: If available, we provide it to you. It remains the property of CB3D and serves as an aid for fitting and digitisation. If one of our grip blanks is used, you commit to having a copy made of the adapted grip. Until it is ready, you can use the adapted blank.
You must return the grip blank to us after receiving the finished custom grip.
Costs
For custom grip fitting we charge 110 EUR per hour incl. VAT. If we use one of our grip blanks for your custom grip, we do not charge any additional cost for it until the custom grip is delivered. Should we then not receive the adapted grip blank back, we charge for the grip blank the cost that would otherwise apply when renting a grip blank for self-adaptation.
Alternative: adapt it yourself or at a partner
You can also adapt a grip blank yourself – or have it adapted at our partners. In both cases it is provided under a rental contract with CB3D. You will find all the details on the grip blank rental page.
